Introduction

Unicus General Contracting is a small contracting business which is slowly making waves within the world of construction. The company is a few years old, and is now introducing personal property services - roofing and siding. They have a strong relationship with their clients, with them returning with more projects at hand. Unicus has built a strong reputations, exercising transparency and commitment to high quality.

Problem

The client needed a stakeholder-facing website in under 48 hours for an upcoming board presentation. With no time for traditional research or testing, the focus shifted to clear communication, fast iteration, and high-impact visuals.

Solution

Focus on clarity, and past projects presentation for quick delivery turnaround

Come back to this project when the client is ready for further use-focused iterations

Goal Setting

The client exclaimed their goals was to make changes that would allow for clarity, an easy user experience, and accessibility. To ensure the user could quickly and easily access the pages that presented completed projects, as that’s what the stakeholders want to see.

The client wanted to have the website ready to show to stakeholders within the coming days.

Delivery

With a tight deadline, I skipped low-fidelity and planning, and jumped straight into high-fidelity designing on Squarespace (that’s where Unicus hosts their website).

I used all existing brand elements, and focused on accessibility and design hierarchy so the interface is easy to scan

What’s Next

The final design was delivered on time, ready for Unicus General Contracting to present to stakeholders and clients.

While there was no time for testing or research, the site met the client’s expectations.

Due to the constraints placed with time, we plan to revisit the website to test it with real users and refine the experience based on research and feedback.

Future iterations will focus on:

  • re-branding

  • usability

  • accessibility

  • ensuring the site is able to adapt to the growing needs of the business
